Putting on the whole amour of God: Ephesians 6:10-18

Ephesians 6:10 “Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand the evil day, and having done all to stand.

Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God;

The armor of God consists of:
• Truth (around your waist to keep you tethered to Christ. Example Everest)
• Ephesians 4:15; “..that we should no longer be children tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctoring, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting, but speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things to Him who is the head – Christ…”
• John 8:31-32: “Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, ‘If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free”.
• Righteousness (around your breast/heart) Strive for righteousness. Jesus say that your righteousness must exceed religion.
• Matthew 5:6 “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, For they shall be filled.”
• Romans 10:4 “For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes”.
• Proverbs 11:4 “Riches do not profit in the day of wrath, But righteousness delivers from death”
• Gospel of peace (on your feet/walking in it)
• Matthew 5:6 “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God”
• James 3:18 “Now the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace”
• Ps.85:10 “Mercy and truth have met together; Righteousness and peace have kissed (righteousness and peace are intimately connected)
• Faith (faith is your shield against trials & tribulations)
• Hebrews 11:1 “faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen”.
• James 2:18 “But someone will say ‘You have faith, I have works’. Show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith by my works”.
• We must exercise and practice our faith in order for it to work to protect us. What good is a shield lying on the ground, we must pick it up and hold it in front of us to protect us. That is when your faith will protect you against negativity in all its forms.
• Salvation
• Isaiah in the Old Testament says in Isaiah 12:2 “Behold, God is my salvation, I will trust and not be afraid; For YAH, the LORD, is my strength and song; He also has become my salvation”
• In the New Testament Paul says in Hebrews 5:8 “though He was a Son, yet He learned obedience by the things which He suffered. And having been perfected (on the cross), He (Jesus)became the author of eternal salvation to all who obey Him, called by God as High Priest “according to the order of Melchizedek” (salvation protects and saves you thru Christ Jesus)
• Sword of the Spirit (the word of God)
• Hebrews 4:12 “For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart”. (Kool Aid and water)
• John 1:1-5 “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.”

When you put on the whole armor of God, you become a reflection of that light. Darkness will not comprehend it. Jesus says (Matt. 5:14) “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden… Vs. 16 “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven”

But the evil one will attack you. Jesus says that “You will be persecuted for righteousness’ sake, you will be persecuted, reviled and people will say all kinds of evil against you falsely for His sake”. Jesus says “Rejoice and be exceedingly glad for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets before you”.

Peter say in 1Peter 4:12-14 “Beloved, do not think it strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened to you; but rejoice to the extent that you partake of Christ’s sufferings, that when His glory is revealed, you may also be glad with exceeding joy. If you are reproached for the name of Christ, blessed are you, for the Spirit of glory and of God rests upon you. On their part He is blasphemed, but on your part He is glorified”.

“Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all saints and for me, that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.

Eph. 5:9 “For the fruits of the Spirit is in all goodness, righteousness, and truth”
John 4:23-24
